I found the resulting sauce way too acidic. My throat was sore after eating it. I would personally recommend using cheap pre-made pasta sauce instead of the crushed tomatoes. I’ve done that in the past and wish I had again.

I made this last night and I doubled the meat but did not double the sauce and it turned out fine.

Made it last night and doubled the meat, added in 2 tsp of jarlic (the garlic in the jar it’s fine), and doubled the amount of Italian seasoning. Probably could have added other stuff too but I didn’t have time. I like that the recipe is very basic and seems to allow for versatility.

The only thing I noticed was that it needed quite a bit of salt at the end. Recommend adding a little at a time until it suits your taste. I also used real Italian canned tomatoes and crushed them using immersion blender.

I have used a full pound of beef many times and not bothered doubling the rest of the ingredients! It still comes out delicious. Just a meatier sauce but fine!

Served over rigatoni with sides of broccoli and some giardiniera. I ended up eating the dregs with crackers, it was so good.

I would double everything if you’re going to use 1lb of beef!
